Job Title: Fleet Diesel Mechanic

JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose: The purpose of the Fleet Diesel Mechanic position is to investigate, diagnose, repair, and document various types of vehicles, equipment, and engines. The Fleet Diesel Mechanic will also be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and ordering repair and stock parts as needed.

Scope & Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel engines, excavation equipment, small engine equipment, and vehicles and trailers

  • Perform preventative maintenance service and DOT inspections

  • Document records of service and repair work on all trucks and equipment

  • Perform unexpected mechanical tasks as needed to minimize disruption of business

  • Order repair parts and maintenance parts stock items as needed

  • Respond to road calls of mechanical breakdowns from field operations

  • Identify and overcome issues that arise from mechanical failures, communication breakdowns, repair parts availability issues, and safety concerns as it relates to the fleet.

  • Balance multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Ability to pass DOT Physical

  • Class C Driver’s License

  • Ability to communicate effectively, in a written and verbal manner

  • Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations with other employees of the organization.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds and stand for four (4) hour periods of time

  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, and crouch and work in tight spaces

  • Must be able to perform strenuous labor under poor or less than ideal field conditions

  • Must be able to quickly move arms and legs and abdominal and lower back muscles

  • Must be able to work around moving equipment that is loud and noisy

Preferred:

  • 5 years related experience
